Are you too old to help the military?
You might think you are too old or maybe even too young to help the armed forces, but you would be wrong. Now, it is true that each branch of the military has age restrictions when it comes to joining, but you can help military men and women even if you are 80 or 8 years old! Now you might ask, “How can anyone, regardless of age, help our fighting men and women?” Well, the answer lies in good old fashioned snail mail. That’s right; you and the U.S. postal service can greatly help our young men and women in the military. Each day thousands of young men and women are in boot camp going through the most tumultuous time of their lives. Sadly, many of these recruits, sailors, soldiers, and airmen are not getting any letters of support from home. Mail time should be a time of joy and comfort for these young men and women, but for some it is only a time of disappointment. You can help these young people with letters and care packages. If you want to help our young service members, contact your local recruiter office and ask if there are any of their recruits who are struggling. Ask if any could use a letter from your home. The recruit may also be able to receive a care package. Your local recruiter should be able to tell you what you can or cannot send to recruits. A little food and a caring word may make a huge difference in the life of our youngest military members and it will make you a patriot!
